Summary: Collection consists of a broad range of materials concerning mining in New Mexico. Includes letters, contracts, reports, clippings, quit-claim deeds, and a variety of legal documents. Collection contains an 1881 report of the Bonanzas Mining, Milling and Smelting Co.; an 1869 U.S. General Land Office report on New Mexico's geology and mineral resources; 1919 stock certificates of the W.R.C. Mining, Milling and Smelting Co.; and issues of the New Mexico Mining Association's newsletter "New Mexico Miner" from 1954-1958. Also within the collection are materials concerning mining on the Maxwell Land Grant, including letters and legal documents involving Lucien B. Maxwell and Henry Northey Hooper, an attorney who assisted miners in establishing legal mining claims.
